MTV PREMIERES I THE MIGHTY ”DANCING ON A TIGHTROPE” MUSIC VIDEO
‘KARMA NEVER SLEEPS’ EP NOW AVAILABLE
San Francisco, CA’s I the Mighty has partnered with MTV.com for the premiere of their music video for “Dancing On A Tightrope”. The song comes from the band’s recently released EP Karma Never Sleeps.
The six-track album is the band’s first release on Equal Vision and debuted at No. 42 on the Billboard New Artist Chart and No. 112 on the Billboard Independent Chart this week.
The EP received a perfect rating, of five out of five, from Alter The Press that detailed, “Fans of anyone from Thrice to Coheed & Cambria, from Say Anything to Muse will appreciate the musicality of I the Mighty. The EP is a complete knock out, Brent Walsh’s vocals are stunning and it’s a refreshing listen…’Dancing on A Tightrope’ is as arresting as it is musically infallible. However, it is infectious centerpiece, ‘Cutting Room Floor’, that really stands above the rest and has hit written all over it - an intelligent, perfectly poetic masterpiece.”
Rock Sound Magazine also praised I the Mighty, writing that the EP “…matches soaring hook laden vocal melodies with rich rhythms and spiraling guitars that are equal parts throatily riffling and atmospheric…the main secret to the success here is the strength of the actual material - each and every song is a muscular slice of hook-laden-alt-pop,” and noting that the lyrical concepts of karma throughout “…only adds a further layer of intrigue to what is a highly assured and brilliantly conceived EP.”
I the Mighty was named one of the ‘100 Bands You Need To Know In 2012’ by Alternative Press Magazine, and in a recent feature for publication, frontman Brent Walsh detailed the meaning behind each song, including “Dancing On A Tightrope”. “The title of the song is a metaphor for living life with reckless abandonment. The song itself was inspired by a friend of mine, who does just that. Yet, no matter what you say to someone, sometimes things need to be learned first hand. ‘It will all come back to you, of that you can’t pretend, because life has a way of equaling itself out at both ends,’ - a statement basically implying that Karma never sleeps.” Walsh’s complete track-by-track explanation can be found HERE.
The quartet has just returned home after a standout performance at the Equal Vision Records SXSW Showcase, where they shared the stage with the likes of Say Anything, We Came As Romans and more. I the Mighty will hit the road again next month, for a short run on the Great American Roar Tour featuring co-headliners Ice Nine Kills and Close To Home, as well as Equal Vision Records’ For All I Am. All upcoming tour dates can be seen below. Karma Never Sleeps is available via digital retailers such as iTunes, Amazon and MerchNOW as well as at shows and exclusively in FYE stores.

SAY ANYTHING’s ANARCHY, MY DEAR DEBUTS AT #17 ON
BILLBOARD CURRENT TOP 200
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF TOMORROW
Equal Vision Records is excited to announce the success of Say Anything’s just-released album, Anarchy, My Dear. Their anthemic and thought-provoking fourth studio release, produced by Tim O’Heir (Superdrag, Sebadoh, Say Anything) debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard Current Top 200 Chart, their highest chart position to date. Additional Billboard chart placements include No. 4 on Independent Albums, No. 4 on Alternative Albums, No. 5 on Rock Albums, No. 15 on Digital Albums, No. 16 on Tastemaker Albums, and No. 22 on Billboard Top 200. Released on March 13th to critical acclaim, Billboard declared, “Anarchy, My Dear is 49 minutes of focused maturity, impressive instrumentation and barrelfuls of frontman Max Bemis’s acerbic and eloquent lyricism. It’s also probably the group’s crowning achievement.”
Having returned from a successful run of packed shows at SXSW, including the Sony Electronics / ‘stache media Showcase, the Equal Vision Records showcase, and an in-store at Waterloo Records, Say Anything are ready to debut the new songs off of Anarchy, My Dear on tour. The 32-date North American tour launches in Bakersfield, CA tomorrow and will end on May 3rd at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Say Anything’s passionate, engaging shows leave their cult-like audience enthralled, with fans screaming along to every word throughout their energetic sets. The full list of tour dates is below.
American Songwriter praised the new album, saying “Anarchy, My Dear is more contrasting and experimental (hammered dulcimer, harmonica, steel guitar) than the indie rockers’ prior output, yet still manages to deliver the corybantic angst heard on 2004’s seamless …Is a Real Boy.” Alternative Press called it, “loose, lively, fun,” while Entertainment Weekly found that “like a good long-distance run, Anarchy rewards with bursts of sonic endorphins.” “The band can be proud of a fantastic record,” hailed PopMatters, “that edits down everything they’ve done to its essence without dilution.”

SET IT OFF ANNOUNCES
SPRING HEADLINING TOUR
PLANS TO RELEASE DEBUT
FULL-LENGTH ALBUM IN SUMMER 2012

Tampa, FL’s Set It Off has announced that this Spring they will co-headline a US tour with Divided By Friday.
Set It Off has also announced new tour dates with Equal Vision Records’ labelmates Life On Repeat and Glass Cloud (ft. Jerry Roush, ex-Of Mice & Men/Sky Eats Airplane and Joshua Travis, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza) following their appearances at SXSW. All three bands will perform at the recently announced Equal Vision Records Showcase on Friday, March 16 at Lucky 13 (418 E 6th St, at Neches St). Co-headlining the showcase will be Say Anything and We Came As Romans. The complete lineup and set times can be seen below.
Last week, Set It Off completed the recording of their debut full-length album, after four weeks in the studio with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount [All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Cartel]. Though an official release date has not been set, the album is expected to be released in Summer 2012.
In addition to weekly studio video updates posted by the band on YouTube.com/setitoffband, frontman Cody Carson recently did an in-depth interview revealing details of the writing and recording process with Alternative Press.
In the interview, Carson explains that the new album will feature Set It Off’s signature sound of orchestra-infused pop with a new sense of heaviness, diversity and intensity in the album, both lyrically and musically. He elaborates, “What’s really present on this album…we’re very theatrical when we present our story. If it’s a darker subject, there is a lot of angst and neurosis that goes into that song…In fact, in one song, Zack and Ken think I sound like the Joker from The Dark Knight. Not that I’m going for that, I just really try to get into character for each song as far as the mood goes. It has that diversity, but it still sounds like Set It Off.”
“We made a list, and we had to figure out which song is serving which purpose on the album. Do we have a song that’ll take people on an emotional ride? Do we have a song that’s really energetic and in-your-face?…A lot of people will release an album and have every song sound like, “Yes, that’s their band,” but they don’t necessarily have songs that take you on a whole ride. That’s what we’re really focusing on,” Carson explained. “If people are going to buy our album, we want to make sure that people are going to feel like they’re hearing an entire story or sitting down for a movie.” The interview can be read in full HERE.
