CAPSIZE SIGNS TOEQUAL VISION RECORDSPREMIERES “I’LL TAKE THE BLAME”MUSIC VIDEORELEASES TWO-SONGDIGITAL SINGLE ANDLAUNCHES PREORDER FOR 7” VINYLANNOUNCES US HEADLINE TOUR AND DATES SUPPORTING BEING AS AN OCEAN

Today, San Diego, CA’s Capsize has announced their signing to Equal Vision Records and is premiering a music video for their new song “I’ll Take The Blame”. The video, which was directed by Tyler Ross (of Being As An Ocean), can be seen on capsize.merchnow.com.

The track comes from I’ve Been Tearing Myself Apart, a new two-song release from the band, which is also out today through digital retailers such as iTunes and Amazon.
The songs will also be released as a 7” vinyl in four color variants: white (limited to 150), coke bottle clear (limited to 150), transparent blue (limited to 150) and black (limited to 50). Black and blue variants will be available on tour only, while the white and coke bottle clear variants will be available exclusively through MerchNOW. Preorders for the online variants have launched HERE.
“We could not be more excited to finally release new music and continue to grow as a band. We spent last December on the road to and from the studio, where we worked with Brian Hood at 456 Recordings in Nashville, TN on the new tracks. We’re super happy with the outcome of our time there. Right when we got home we shot a video with our best friend Tyler Ross, from Being As An Ocean. We’re already really deep in the writing process for our full-length and are anxious to get back in the studio,” shares Capsize vocalist Daniel Wand. “The new songs are the perfect transition into a new chapter of the band that we have been working towards for a really long time.”
He continues, “Putting out music through Equal Vision Records - a label that we have all respected since we were getting into underground music - is truly a rewarding experience. Having any association with bands that were once a part of it like Converge, Armor For Sleep, Refused is just wild, really. It’s awesome to see Bane releasing a final record this year on Equal Vision as well. We can’t thank Dan and the rest of the EVR team enough for taking us in and having faith in our band.”
Capsize formed in 2009 and is comprised of Daniel Wand (vocals), Ryan Knowles (guitar), Andrew Tamayo (drums), Chris Darton (guitar), and Joey Toarmina (bass).
The melodic hardcore outfit will begin recording their debut full-length album in May with Jay Maas at Getaway Recordings in Haverhill, MA. Prior to recording, the band will head out on a west coast run supporting Being As An Ocean, followed by a coast-to-coast headliner with Choir Vandals. All upcoming tour dates can be found below.

BRIAN MARQUIS SIGNS TO
EQUAL VISION RECORDS

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
‘BLOOD & SPIRITS’
TO BE RELEASED MAY 13

PERFORMING ON
UK ACOUSTIC BASEMENT TOUR
AND 2014 VANS WARPED TOUR

MAR 27 - Brian Marquis, former guitarist of the beloved Boston-based post-hardcore outfit Therefore I Am, has signed to Equal Vision Records as a solo artist.

"I am extremely excited to be teaming up with Equal Vision Records for my first solo full length. I feel confident that they know where I’m coming from and are genuinely excited about where I’m headed with my new music," shares Marquis. “Having played music for a while now in different scenarios, one of the most important things to me now, is working with people who are just as passionate about what they do as I am about my music. It’s that enthusiasm and foresight that make me proud to be a part of the EVR family.”

Marquis will release his debut solo full-length album, Blood & Spirits, on May 13 – following his run on the first ever Acoustic Basement UK Tour, which will also feature Geoff Rickly (Thursday), KOJI, and Rob Lynch.

This Summer, Marquis will perform and run production on the Acoustic Basement Stage on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour for the third consecutive year – a stage that he founded in 2011 under the guidance of Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman.

The semi-indoor tented stage features a wide variety of established acts performing acoustic sets, offering a break from the signature full-band stages of the massive annual touring festival. Artists who have performed on the stage include the likes of Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music/The Revival Tour), Into It. Over It., Transit, Anti-Flag, William Beckett (The Academy Is…), and many more. The Acoustic Basement has now expanded beyond the US Vans Warped Tour, having now completed two independent US tours and will have the aforementioned inaugural UK run kicking off on April 20 in Southampton, UK.

Following the disbanding of Therefore I am, Marquis set out on his own musical path as a solo artist, straying away from the in-your-face rock that had been a part of his life for so long, and now presenting a softer more soulful side of his musical prowess.

Marquis’ deep, earthy vocals shine on Blood & Spirits, offering introspective, poetic lyricism, undeniably catchy melodies and a dynamic collection of songs that range stylistically from bright, memorable sing-alongs (“Paralysis by Analysis”) filled to the brim with Boston pride (“From Boston”) to dark, emotional tales crooned out with just the right amount of Americana twang (“Hem & Haw”, “I’m Still Chasing You”) and full-hearted genuineness (“Drink You Up”). One can simply feel the raw, honest truth and passion behind each and every word Marquis pours out on Blood & Spirits.

The new album was recorded in Los Angeles, CA with producer Doug Grean (Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow, Stone Temple Pilots).

While a positive spirit has always been at the core of Marquis’ true being, it wasn’t until his recent brush with a potentially untimely fate that pushed him into the truly extraordinary territory of greater meaning and purpose displayed on Blood & Spirits.

This past summer, while attempting to preserve the safety and integrity of the Acoustic Basement Stage of the 2013 Vans Warped Tour in the midst of a sudden, aggressive storm in Florida – Marquis was unimaginably struck by lightning. While the serious scare (that promptly landed him in the hospital) left him with no known long-term side-effects or ailments, the scarring event proved to be a stark reminder of the fragility of life, the importance of friends and family, and – above all for Marquis – to live life with real purpose and make music with real meaning.

Marquis’ message is clear and powerful on the forthcoming album, his first release of new music since the incident, as he leaves his heart and soul on the table and truly makes the most of each and every note on the record. With Blood & SpiritsMarquis has officially found his voice.

Matt Pryor To Release New EP + LP

Signs To Rory Records/Equal Vision Records

Matt Pryor (of The Get Up Kids) is pleased to announce his signing to Rory Records/Equal Vision Records along with the release of a new full-length album and EP in 2013. The EP, a collaborative work with long-time colleague James Dewees (Reggie & The Full Effect, The Get Up Kids, My Chemical Romance), will be released on October 1st, 2013. On November 12th, 2013, Pryor is set to release his third solo album Wrist Slitter, the follow up album to 2012’s self-released May Day.
On signing with Rory Records – the Equal Vision Records label imprint founded by Say Anything frontman Max Bemis – Pryor comments, ”I’ve been a fan of Max’s songwriting for a while, I feel like I got to know him when he was on my [Nothing To Write Home About] podcast. He’s a very passionate guy and he’s got a good mind for this business (which is rare in an artist). He approached me about working with Rory Records/Equal Vision Records. I had put out my last couple records myself and was looking to work with a partner that could do more than just me sitting at my dining room table.  It seemed like a sign that Max called right when I was about to start searching. We got on the horn and after one phone call I was in.”
Pryor further explains his collaboration with Dewees, “I jump at any chance to work or even hang out with James. I owe a lot of what I know about songwriting to him. We hadn’t really written together in almost three years (since the last TGUK record) and he approached me out of the blue with these new songs he’d written. He is never at a loss for musical ideas but words aren’t really his thing. It’s a perfect collaboration because I like to toil over lyrics. He can just send me a finished instrumental song (because he can play almost any instrument) and I can have something new to sing about.”
Though best known for his work as the primary singer-songwriter for The Get Up Kids, Pryor has a vast musical catalog including his folk-tinged group The New Amsterdams, children’s music project Terrible Twos and indie-rock super group Lasorda – featuring Nate Harold (fun.), Mike Standberg (Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band), and Dustin Kinsey (The New Amsterdams). Never one to slow down, Pryor also contributes to Chicago start-up Downwrite – a website that enables artists to create fan-commissioned songs and connect with fans on a personal and creative level – and performs online concerts for StageIt – an online platform dedicated to monetized live streamed performances. In 2012, Pryor started his own Nothing To Write Home About podcast wherein he interviews fellow musicians and industry friends such as Andy Hull (Manchester Orchestra), Chris Conley (Saves The Day), Kevin Devine, Tim McIlrath (Rise Against), and more.
This winter will see Pryor on the road in support of the new album with label mates Max Bemis (Say Anything), Sherri DuPree Bemis (Eisley), Perma, and Merriment. Dates included below.

WILLIAM BECKETT
SIGNS TO EQUAL VISION RECORDS

BEGINS RECORDING FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

SPRING HEADLINE TOUR
AND 2013 VANS WARPED TOUR
PLANS ANNOUNCED

Image description

Feb 28 - Solo artist William Beckett has signed to Upstate NY-based independent label Equal Vision Records, whose current roster includes the likes Say Anything, The Dear Hunter, Eisley, and HRVRD; And an equally impressive alumni roster of Coheed & Cambria, Circa Survive, Saves The Day and more.

"I’ve been a fan of EVR and its roster since I was listening to The Stryder and Saves the Day in high school," Beckett shares. “For months I was approached by labels but after the first conversation I knew EVR was a perfect fit; I can make exactly the record I want to make.”

Beckett is currently recording his debut Equal Vision Records release, a full-length album, in his hometown of Chicago, IL with producer Marc McClusky (Weezer, Ludo). He will next hit the road on the What Will Be Tour, a month-long US solo headline run that kicks off on March 22 in Dekalb, IL; And will perform on the entirety of the 2013 Vans Warped Tour this Summer.

Having toured nearly non-stop for ten years as frontman for The Academy Is…, Beckett has built up an incredibly dedicated and supportive fanbase around the world. Though massively proud of the band’s accomplishments and experiences together, their eventual disbanding as a group in late 2011 allowed for Beckett to begin the next era of his career, as a solo artist. Returning home to his roots and family in Chicago, Beckett began pouring his heart and soul into a trilogy of EPs — Walk The TalkWinds Will Change, and What Will Be, and the Pioneer Sessions album (a collection of twelve acoustic versions of songs from each of the EPs) — all of which was released in 2012.

Beckett's first single released as a solo artist, “Compromising Me” off of Walk The Talk EP, rocketed to the top of the iTunes charts, cracking the top 20 and leading all independently released tracks. In the following months, the official release of each of the three solo EPs followed suit in a similar impressively meteoric rise. Beckett's solo music embraces his expansive vocal range, pop sensibilities, quirky yet soothingly hypnotic melodies and distinctive narrative lyrical twists; Offering his most diverse stylings and personal material to date.

"Music is all about connection," Beckett expresses. “Performer gives to listener, listener gives back to performer. I respect my fans and their inevitable evolution of taste and experience. The only constants in life are change and the necessity of music. THAT is why I don’t make the same record over and over again. I’m not trying to cater to an audience or lower the bar to some level of “relatability”. I write real songs for real people about real experiences. The connection is the skin, the meat and the core. The whole apple.”

As a solo artist, and with The Academy Is…, Beckett has toured with the likes of KISS, Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, Cobra Starship, Plain White T’s, Mayday Parade and more. Tonight at 7pm CST, Beckett will perform and chat live on StageIt.com/william_beckett.

All upcoming William Beckett tour dates can be seen below.

A LOT LIKE BIRDS SIGNS TO EQUAL VISION RECORDS
Sacramento, CA-based experimental post-hardcore outfit A Lot Like Birds has signed to Equal Vision Records.
Whether they’re swinging from the rafters, climbing up venue walls, joining in on spontaneous mid-set crowd surfs, launching guitars 25 feet in the air, or simply focusing on the music - the dynamic six-piece band is quickly becoming known for their roaring live sets filled with in-your-face intensity. Standing at the forefront of their bold performances are duel vocalists, Cory Lockwood and Kurt Travis, who seamlessly intertwine, layer and harmonize, while interchanging singing, screaming and spoken word duties. Guiding the melodies along with the alternating of intricate riffs and airy, ambient wails are guitarists Michael Franzino and Ben Wiacek, as well as the flowing rhythms of bassist Michael “Butter” Littlefield and drummer Joe Arrington.
In Fall 2011, A Lot Like Birds released Conversation Piece, the band’s sophomore effort and first release with the current six-piece lineup. The eleven track album was recorded at Interlace Audio Recording Studio in Portland, OR with producer Kris Crummet [Closure In Moscow, Fear Before, Dance Gavin Dance]. Conversation Piece features poetically delivered and emotionally driven lyrics powered by compelling duel vocals, with an emphasis on solid song structure and storytelling.
"Written word shaped me more definitively than any other interest in my life. I’ve been writing creatively my entire life without any real direction, outside of obsessively discovering new stories inside of myself and dragging them out. Music gave me a way to combine story and emotion and poetry with another love - performance," Lockwood elaborates.
"And when Travis and I met…we instantly bonded with each other and started to test each other’s role and how best to complement each other musically. It didn’t take too long for us to finish each other’s lyrics if we were struggling with something or figure out a cohesive call-and-response section or harmony. And best of all, we decided not to separate each other into different corners of the musical ring. He screams at times and I sing at times. There’s such an amazing amount of room for us to create together, as long as we ignore the standard limitations of a duo like that."
A Lot Like Birds' constant musical evolution and entrancing live shows, combined with their down-to-earth personalities, proved to be just the right fit for Equal Vision Records. “Signing to Equal Vision used to just be a daydream for most of us,” explains Lockwood. “When we were growing up and still playing in previous bands, Equal Vision was putting out CDs by incredible artists that we admire like Bear vs Shark, The Fall of Troy and Circa Survive.”
"We are all very happy about it…there honestly couldn’t be a better home for us and what we want to do," Franzino adds. "It means the world to be on EVR and we can’t wait to see what comes of it."
The band will soon begin the writing process for their debut Equal Vision release, with tentative plan to enter the studio in early 2013; And will tour for the remainder of 2012, with fall tour plans to be announced shortly.

A LOT LIKE BIRDS SIGNS TO EQUAL VISION RECORDS

Sacramento, CA-based experimental post-hardcore outfit A Lot Like Birds has signed to Equal Vision Records.

Tampa, FL-based band TALLHART has signed to Equal Vision Records. The indie rock quartet is also the first band signed to Rory Records – the newly launched EVR imprint label of Say Anything frontman Max Bemis.

TALLHART (previously known as Marksmen) will release their Equal Vision Records/Rory Records debut EP in Spring 2012. The album was recorded in Tampa, FL with Bemis, Tim McTague (of Underoath), and Dean Tidey (of Feeder) serving as producers.

Leading the EP will be the track “Fever (Sister Of Mine)”, which will be released on March 6th as a digital single. This album will be the follow-up to two previous self-releases put out under the name Marksmen, The Blue and Grey EP (2010) and their full-length album Sister of Mine (2011).

“They are TALLHART. A brilliant young band from Tampa who can write a stadium rock-level anthem like nobody’s business but don’t shy away from lovely, dense songwriting. They also put on a sickeningly great live show,” Bemis expounds. “To me, they combine the best elements of early U2, Manchester Orchestra and sort of a young Pearl Jam (that last one is a pretty weird call, but I stand by it): basically, smart and brave music, rich with a swelling, unfiltered feeling. I’ll be working closely with them on many aspects of their music and the record, and am extremely excited for the release of their EVR/Rory Records debut EP.”

TALLHART vocalist Matt Segallos reflects on the new partnership stating, “I feel like EVR has put out genre defining records over the years…so for them to want to work with us is exciting to say the least…and once things became clear that EVR was ready to make this happen, it was cool to see that Max was really on our side.”

He continues, “I just really feel like it’s rare for someone of his standing to really fight for an up and coming band because he believes in the music so much. It wasn’t like we were long time friends so he threw us a bone he just genuinely wanted to help us take the next step. I’m always thrilled to work with someone like that. Plus, everyone knows how creative Max is; to have him involved in our work is a real pleasure.”

Guitarist Chris Brickman, drummer Reed Murray and bassist Glenn Espinoza collectively create a perfectly balanced musical framework that showcases Segallos’ potent mix of lyrical musings on the light and dark sides of life, love, and spirituality – all delivered through his distinctly soulful, and subtly southern, croons. Through rich guitar tones and pure lyrical eloquence, one can simply feel the sincerity and depth of the band’s emotionally charged music.

The band was named one of Tampa’s “2011 Ultimate Local Artists” by the Tampa Bay Tribune/ St. Pete Times and has shared stages with the diverse likes of Anberlin, Underoath, Panic! At The Disco, Paper Tongues, Rooney, AWOLNATION and more.

TALLHART will be on tour this Spring with indie pop labelmates Eisley from March 8 – April 1 and Say Anything from April 13 – May 3. All upcoming tour dates can be seen below.
