EQUAL VISION RECORDS 2011 MUSIC/TOUR VIDEO RECAP
So…while I started compiling my favorite EVR moments of 2011 I thought to myself, holy smokes we released a lot of music videos this year. And sifting through all of them on our YouTube Channel I realized we also have some really awesome and hilarious tour updates that still make me burst out laughing and/or crying to this day. Sometimes all at once. Anyways, I pulled a bunch of them (okay…most of them) and compiled them into a month by month recap. I can’t believe it’s my job to put things like this together. Way too much fun. Here’s January 2011 - June 2011, I’ll have the second half posted soon. Enjoy!
We started the year off with a teaser for We Came As Romans’ Deluxe CD/DVD of To Plant A Seed:
And then Mozart Season put out this tour update soon after. I think this footage might have been from when they were out on the road with letlive., not positive though. I still have one of the show posters from that 2010 tour hanging on the wall next to my desk haha. I’m actually going to go listen to Nightmares right now. I miss Mozart Season.
In February, The Fall of Troy’s live performance at The Glasshouse in Pomona (in October 2009) was released on itunes. Purchase or rent it HERE.
In March we released Wild Orchid Children’s brilliant music video for ‘Ahead Of Us The Secret’ - the video itself being an hommage to the Beastie Boys. This band will blow your mind. Seriously.
We had our first SXSW showcase in YEARS this past March. It was an incredible and memorable day of music - including Gatsbys American Dream’s very first show back. Also performing on the lineup: Eisley, Wild Orchid Children, ORBS, This Time Next Year and our buds in Harvard. We also teamed up with livestream to stream and film the show! I love SXSW.
In May, a video of Texas In July’s Adam Gray juggling and drumming simultaneously went viral. The video was cool…even cooler was him going on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to perform and impress Leno and William Shatner. Just another day in the life of Adam Gray. Here’s some of the backstage footage:
We also released music videos for Eisley’s “Smarter” and Life On Repeat’s “Struggle & Sleep”
And freakin’ Fairweather reunited this year. WHAT EVEN?! May was such an awesome month. Here’s a video of the band performing ”Whatever It Takes” at Black Cat:
In June, we announced signing I the Mighty with this emotional video. We can’t wait to share their music with you — stay tuned for release news. 2012 will be an exciting year for them! They’ll also be out touring the west coast with A Lot Like Birds and Just Like Vinyl (ex-Fall of Troy) in January, so be sure to show them some love on that tour!
I can’t really think of a better way to wrap up the first half of this list of 2011 video memories than with this Chiodos tour recap. We still watch this regularly in the office and crack up. And without fail Piebald’s “American Heart” gets stuck in my head. Every. Time. Not to mention how awesome this screen preview is. Nice face B haha :)
Part II…coming soon!
